The Amish Trout Outfitters (ATO) was started by Andy Kitson who enlisted a group of fly fishing enthusiast from northern Indiana dedicated to growing and improving our fishery. We are proud of our trout streams and how far they have come in the past few years, and we want to share them with you.

Our Guides

Andy Kitson

A life long resident of the Amish Waters, Andy spent much of his youth stomping through streams with nets and worms chasing the elusive trout. Now you can find Andy searching for trout using his “Amish Nymphing” techniques. Andy is also the past president of the St. Joe River Valley Fly Fisher FFF Club and contributing artist and writer to several different fly fishing publications. He now lives just outside Middlebury, IN with his wife Lynn, and six (yes, six) kids. Andy is a member of  Orvis Pro Staff. You can reach Andy at guide@theamishtrout.com or 574-536-6310.

Mike Beachy

Mike Beachy is "The Godfather" of the Amish Waters. No one logs more time on our streams than Mike, and he knows every pool and eddy. Mike is the current president of LECTU and is very active in keeping our fishery great. Mike splits his time fishing between here and Colorado. Mike is a true outdoorsmen and avid fly tyer.

Nick Christofeno

Nick Christofeno is our newest member of the ATO guide staff and the current Vice President of LECTU. Nick is a recent graduate of Ball State University where he spent a lot of time at the Brookville Tailwaters between classes. Nick is a true fly fishing addict and is an expert on the ATO nymphing and streamer techniques. He has a knack for catching the big ones and knows where and when to fish for them.

“ATO is the best! Y’all better get down here and fish before the word gets out. Nothing like a guide that knows every run intimately including each and every hang up and how many fish (and size) reside in each hole. We had an awesome day together. I hope to make it back again next year.”
— Ann Miller, Author

Jeff Stanifer

Jeff Stanifer hails from Mishawaka, Indiana and is an expert in all things fly fishing. Twice Jeff has made it to the National Championships for the Team USA Fly Fishing. Jeff's custom flies are highly sought after, and his technical knowledge makes him an excellent guide. Whether you're fishing for Salmon, Steelhead, Smallies or Trout, Jeff can get the job done for you. Jeff is also a former president of SJRVFF and a member of the Orvis Pro Staff.

Chris Miller

Chris Miller is the founding president of the Little Elkhart Chapter of Trout Unlimited (LECTU). He is a passionate environmentalist and very active in river restoration. Chris splits his fishing between The Lil E and the Pere Marquette River, where he has a cabin. There isn’t a run or riffle on the Lil E that Chris hasn’t swung his streamer through. Chris is also an avid bird hunter and offers "Cast and Blast" trips throughout the autumn. Chris lives with his wife and two kids on the banks of the lower Little Elkhart River. Chris is a member of Orvis Pro Staff.
